Module 1 (off-road)

11 guides in the module 1 (off-road) section of motorcycle: mod 1 and mod 2. Pick any to read in full.

Module 1 is the first practical part of the full motorcycle licence route. It is an off-road manoeuvre test, carried out on a DVSA motorcycle manoeuvring area, and usually lasts approximately 20 minutes. You take it after CBT and the right theory test for your licence category, before Module 2 on public roads. The examiner is checking machine control at walking pace and at set speeds, not road positioning or traffic judgement. The exercises include slow control, the figure of eight, slalom, a controlled U-turn, an emergency stop and hazard avoidance, plus the ride-in and parking routines that link the layout together. You need Module 1 if you are taking a full motorcycle licence, including A1, A2 or unrestricted category A through direct access or progressive access. Pass rate varies by test centre, so use these guides to understand the standard, then practise each exercise on a marked area until your clutch, throttle, brakes and observations are consistent.
