Key points: other types of vehicle

  1. Long vehicles swing out before turning. Stay well back and never pass on the side they are turning towards (rule 221).
  2. Look twice for motorcyclists, who are easy to miss at junctions, and give them room to move within the lane (rules 211, 88).
  3. Give two-wheelers extra space in windy weather, as they can be blown off line (rule 232).
  4. Help a large vehicle that is overtaking you by easing off so it can pull back in (rule 168).
  5. Trams cannot steer, so never block the rails and give them priority (rule 300).
  6. At a level crossing, stop when the amber light shows and the barriers fall, and never zigzag across (rule 293).
