The core rules on speed, priority, junctions and parking. Read the key points below, then take the short quiz to check it has stuck. Every point is grounded in the Highway Code.
Speed limits unless signs say otherwise: 30 mph in built-up areas, 60 on single carriageways, and 70 on dual carriageways and motorways (rule 124).
At roundabouts and mini-roundabouts, give way to traffic coming from your right (rules 185, 188).
Do not enter a yellow box junction unless your exit is clear, except when turning right and waiting for a gap (rule 174).
Double solid white lines mean you must not cross or straddle them, except to pass a stationary obstruction or a cyclist or horse travelling at 10 mph or less (rule 129).
Never park or wait on the zigzag lines at a pedestrian crossing (rule 191).
When turning right, position just left of the centre line and give way to oncoming traffic (rule 179).
