You can miss 10. The Florida Class E knowledge exam is 50 multiple-choice questions and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles requires 40 correct to pass, which is exactly 80 percent, so the eleventh wrong answer makes a pass impossible for that sitting. Both figures are published by FLHSMV on its Class E Knowledge Exam page and were checked in September 2026. Two things worth knowing before you count on that margin. FLHSMV publishes no rule about the exam stopping early once a pass is out of reach, so treat 10 as the arithmetic ceiling rather than as a point where the screen shuts off. And on the online exam that under-18s take through an approved third-party administrator, the administrator agreement sets a 60 minute limit and marks anything left unanswered as incorrect, so unanswered questions eat into the same 10.
