Why our numbers carry a source
Every figure on these pages names the agency that published it and the date we checked. That matters more than it sounds, because several states do not publish the numbers that practice sites state with total confidence. California DMV publishes no question count on any current page, and no motorcycle count at all. Texas publishes a 70 percent pass mark and no count either. Where a state publishes a figure we cite it. Where it does not, we say so instead of repeating a number with nothing behind it.

How the tests are built
Car tests draw from a shared set covering rules that do not change between states, such as federal sign shapes and right of way, plus a layer written from that state’s own statutes: permit ages, alcohol limits, helmet law, insurance minimums. CDL is different again, because commercial licensing is federal: 49 CFR Part 383 fixes the pass mark at 80 percent and states test from the same model manual, so one CDL bank applies everywhere.
These are original questions written from the rules themselves. They are not the examination questions any state uses, and this site is not affiliated with or endorsed by any state licensing agency.
