How many questions can you miss on the Texas permit test?
No exact number can be given, and any site that gives you one is not citing TxDPS. What Texas publishes is the threshold: the Texas Driver Handbook DL-7, revised January 2026, requires a grade of 70 percent or better to pass any knowledge exam, and the same 70 percent is set by rule in 37 Texas Administrative Code s. 15.52. So you may miss up to 30 percent of the questions. What TxDPS does not publish anywhere is how many questions the Class C knowledge exam contains: not in the 91 page DL-7, not on the apply page, not on the testing in other languages page, not in the driver license FAQ and not in the Administrative Code. The 30 question figure in wide circulation appears only on commercial practice sites, so no miss count can be derived from an official source. Checked in September 2026.
